Proposal: An Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
By admin on Jun 12th 2024 08:11AMLet's follow Princeton's example and establish a community-led approach to meeting our affordable housing needs.
Affordable housing deserves its own Lambertville government committee with representation from the planning board, zoning commission, human rights council, and other members of the community. The plans that have been put forth by the city's administration over the past decade have been unilateral and sub-par. It's time we make affordable housing a community-led priority and come up with a realistic plan that aligns with our values. If we need a model, Princeton has recently created a similar committee.
Councilman Lide has offered to help establish this committee. Please email the Mayor and Council expressing your support for a team of experienced residents, City appointees, and elected officials to collaborate with the public on meeting our affordable housing obligations.
